About JPG to AVIF
JPG to AVIF is for squeezing images as small as they'll go without an obvious drop in quality. AVIF is a modern format built on AV1 video compression, and a photo often ends up about half the size of the JPG at a similar look. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all display it, which makes it a strong choice for web pages and online stores. For WebP, the other modern web format, see the converters in Image Converter.
You can upload JPG or PNG, and transparent PNGs keep their transparency. Quality starts at 60, a sensible level for AVIF, whose quality numbers don't line up with JPG's, so 60 here doesn't mean a rough-looking image. Encoding effort, under More options, trades time for size: lower values take longer and save a little more.

Why use Cubfile for this
- Very small files
AVIF's compression can roughly halve a JPG's size while keeping a similar look.
- PNG transparency kept
Upload a transparent PNG and the AVIF keeps its alpha channel.
- Tunable encoding
Quality and Encoding effort let you decide how hard the encoder works.
- Photo info carried over
Camera and date details from the JPG are written into the AVIF.
