Photos from phones and the web

HEIC to JPG opens iPhone photos on any computer and keeps their orientation and the date they were taken. Pictures saved from websites often arrive as WebP, JFIF or AVIF. WebP to JPG and WebP to PNG turn them into ordinary files, and the PNG keeps any transparency. JFIF to JPG and AVIF to JPG fix the other odd downloads that some apps refuse to open.

Smaller files for websites

JPG to WebP and PNG to WebP cut the weight of images on a web page, and JPG to AVIF often gets a photo to half the size of the JPG. Animated GIFs shrink when you convert them to WebP, and WebP animations go back to GIF with their frame timing.

Transparency, icons and design files

PNG to JPG fills transparent areas with the background colour you pick. PNG to ICO builds a Windows icon with several sizes from one image, and PSD to PNG flattens a Photoshop file without Photoshop. TIFF scans, BMP files and DDS game textures are covered too.

Quality, photo info and size

Most converters offer a Quality setting for JPG and WebP, a Keep photo info (EXIF) switch and resizing by width, height or percentage. Converters for SVG, camera RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG), EPS and JPEG XL are coming soon.

Image Converter: questions and answers

Does the image converter lower the quality?
Converting to PNG doesn't lose anything. JPG, WebP and AVIF are lossy formats, so their converters have a Quality setting, and it's worth keeping it high for screenshots with small text.
How do I convert HEIC photos to JPG?
Open HEIC to JPG, add the photo from your iPhone or computer and download the JPG. It opens on Windows, on Android and in upload forms that refuse HEIC.
How many pictures can I convert on the free plan?
The free plan gives visitors 2 tasks and free accounts 2 a day, for images up to 50 MB. With VIP there's no daily limit, files can reach 1 GB and up to 50 images go in one task.
Does the image converter keep the location stored in my photos?
By default it keeps the camera, date and location details. Untick Keep photo info (EXIF) to leave them out, and remember that the upload itself is deleted from our server after an hour.
Why convert images to WebP or AVIF?
Both are far smaller than JPG and PNG at similar visual quality, which makes web pages load faster. Keep a JPG or PNG copy for places that don't accept them yet, such as some upload forms.
