About DDS to PNG
DDS to PNG is for modders, game artists and anyone digging through game files. DDS (DirectDraw Surface) is the texture format used by many PC games and engines, but regular image viewers and editors usually can't open it without a plugin. WebP, PSD and other formats you may run into have their own converters in Image Converter.
Upload the .dds and you get a PNG of the main texture with the alpha channel kept, so transparency, masks and cut-out foliage come through intact. Block-compressed DXT1, DXT3 and DXT5 textures work, as do BC4, BC5, BC6H and BC7 and uncompressed files. Only the full-size image is exported, and smaller mipmap levels and extra cube map faces are skipped. To use an edited texture in a game, convert it back to DDS with your modding tools.
