About Watermark PDF

Watermark PDF drafts, quotes and shared documents so everyone can see what they are and where they came from: DRAFT across a proposal, CONFIDENTIAL on an internal report, your logo on a price list. Add several PDFs at once and each comes back as name_watermarked.pdf, with all of them in one ZIP too. Set Place to Under the text and the mark sits behind the words, so they stay crisp and easy to read. Scanned pages are one picture that would hide it, so there the watermark goes over the page and the result tells you.

Common wordings such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or Confidential · {date} are one tap away under the text box, and {date}, {page}, {pages} and {file} fill in today's date, the page number, the page count and the file name, as in Copy for ACME – page {page} of {pages}. For a logo, upload a PNG, JPG or WebP; a PNG with a transparent background looks cleanest. Put the mark in one of nine spots, where even a tilted mark in a corner stays whole on the page, or pick Tile the page to repeat it in staggered rows. Lock the watermark (pages become pictures) turns each page into an image, so nobody can select or delete the mark in a PDF editor, though the page text can't be selected any more either. It's a VIP option. For a one-off note at an exact spot, Edit PDF adds text wherever you click.

How to use Watermark PDF

    Upload the PDFs

    Click Choose files or drop one document or several on the page.

    Design the watermark

    Choose Text or Image, type your wording or tap a suggestion, then set Text size or Image size, Opacity, Rotation and Color.

    Place it

    Click one of the nine positions or Tile the page, choose Over the page or Under the text, and list pages if only some need it.

    Apply and download

    Click Watermark PDF and save each marked copy, or all of them as one ZIP.

Can the watermark go under the text?
Yes. Set Place to Under the text and the watermark sits behind the words, so the text stays crisp and readable. A scanned page is one big picture that would cover it, so on scans the watermark goes over the page instead, and the result tells you how many pages that affected.
Can I put the date or page numbers in a watermark?
Yes. Type {date} for today's date, {page} for the page number, {pages} for the page count and {file} for the file name, for example Confidential · {date} or Copy for ACME – page {page} of {pages}. Each page gets its own values.
Can a watermark be removed later?
It's merged into the page content, so it isn't a comment anyone can delete with one click, and a tiled watermark is much harder to crop or paint out. For documents that leave your hands, tick Lock the watermark (pages become pictures) under More options, and every page becomes an image, so the mark can't be selected or deleted in a PDF editor. The page text can't be selected or copied afterwards either.
How many PDFs can I watermark at once?
Up to 20 in one task on the free plan, each up to 50 MB, with 2 tasks a day on a free account and 2 in total as a visitor. VIP marks up to 50 files of up to 1 GB in one task with no daily cap, and Lock the watermark (pages become pictures) is a VIP option. To send the marked files as a single document, combine them afterwards with Merge PDF.
Can anyone see my documents while they're being watermarked?
No. Each file is stamped in its own isolated process on our server and deleted automatically after an hour, together with the watermarked copy.
