About Split Word
Split Word files when a thesis has to go to reviewers chapter by chapter, or a bundle of contracts needs to become separate agreements again. Choose where to cut: at every heading of the level you pick, or after each manual page break. Each part comes out as its own DOCX, named with its number and first line, like report_02 Methods.docx. For spreadsheets, Split Excel cuts a workbook by sheet, by the values in a column or every N rows.
Cuts are made at Word's built-in heading styles, Heading 1 to Heading 3. Titles that are only bold or larger text don't count, so apply a heading style first if yours were formatted by hand. Anything before the first heading, such as a cover page and table of contents, becomes part 01. Every part keeps the original styles, headers, footers and list numbering. When the edited chapters come back, Merge Word joins them into one document again.
How to use Split Word
- 1Upload the DOCX
Click Choose file or drop the document on the page. Only DOCX works here, so save a DOC as DOCX first.
- 2Pick where to split
Choose Headings and a Heading level, or Page breaks to cut after every manual page break.
- 3Click Split Word
The document is cut in an isolated process. If no matching headings or page breaks turn up, you'll see a message and the task isn't counted.
- 4Download the parts
Grab every part with Download all (ZIP), or save the documents one by one.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Split at the level you choose
Heading 1 gives one file per chapter, while Heading 2 or Heading 3 cuts at every section or subsection of that level.
- Page break mode
A file holding many letters, certificates or forms, with a page break between each, splits into one document per piece.
- Formatting carried over
Each part is cut from the original document, so styles, headers, footers, page setup and numbering stay as they were.
- Readable file names
Parts are numbered and carry their opening words, such as thesis_03 Results.docx, so you can tell them apart without opening them.
