About Watermark Excel
Add a watermark to Excel workbooks before they go to a supplier, an auditor or a client who should know the figures are confidential or still a draft. Excel has no watermark button, so the usual workaround is a picture in the page header, which shows only in Page Layout view and on paper. We do that on every sheet, and add a lighter copy behind the cells so it's visible while you work too. If the draft comes back with edits, Compare Excel points out every changed cell.
The header picture is centered and matches each sheet's orientation, so it appears on every printed page and in PDF exports. Choose the text, color and opacity; Chinese text is drawn with a Chinese font. An existing header picture or sheet background is replaced, while cells, formulas and charts aren't touched.
How to use Watermark Excel
- 1Upload the XLSX
Click Choose file or drop your workbook on the page.
- 2Type the watermark
Enter the Watermark text, such as CONFIDENTIAL or your company name.
- 3Pick color and opacity
The defaults are silver at 40% opacity. Lighter settings work best behind numbers.
- 4Click Watermark Excel
Every sheet gets the watermark, and the workbook downloads under its original name.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Visible while you work
A faint, tiled copy sits behind the cells as the sheet background.
- Printed on every page
A larger copy goes in the center of the page header, so paper copies and PDFs carry it.
- Every sheet at once
All sheets are marked, including ones with a different first page or separate odd and even headers.
- Right way up
Landscape sheets get a landscape watermark and portrait sheets a portrait one.
