About Compress PowerPoint
Compress PPT decks that grew huge because of photos: a product launch with full-resolution shots, a wedding slideshow, a lecture with a screenshot on every slide. Photos pasted in from the clipboard are stored as PNG, often the whole reason a deck is huge, and photos from a camera or phone keep their full resolution even when they fill only a corner of a slide. In our test, a slide with a pasted photo shown 3 inches wide went from 16.5 MB to 40 KB and still opened normally. Reports and other Word files bloated by photos go through Compress Word instead.
Each picture is sized for how large it's shown on the slides that use it, cropping included, at about 300, 200 or 144 pixels per inch for Light, Recommended and Extreme, so a photo filling a slide keeps what the slide needs and a small logo loses the pixels nobody sees. Photos pasted in as PNG are saved as JPEG with the same look, and the deck's links follow them; screenshots, charts and pictures with see-through parts stay PNG. Text, animations, transitions, notes and layouts aren't touched. Embedded video, sound and fonts are left as they are, and when a deck is mostly video, the result says how many MB that is. Target size keeps the deck under a size you choose, like an e-mail limit: the gentlest level that gets there is used, or you get the smallest version with a note. Target size is a VIP feature, and free accounts can try it once a day.
How to use Compress PowerPoint
- 1Upload the deck
Click Choose file or drop a PPTX. Free accounts can upload decks up to 50 MB, VIP up to 1 GB.
- 2Pick a level
Recommended keeps photos sharp on a projector, Extreme is for tight email limits and Light changes the least. Target size aims for the size you set.
- 3Click Compress PowerPoint
Pictures are resized and recompressed in an isolated process on our server.
- 4Save the lighter deck
See the percentage saved, then save the deck under its original name.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Sized for the slide
Each photo keeps the pixels its size on the slide needs, cropping counted, instead of one fixed size for all.
- Pasted photos made JPEG
PNG photos from copy and paste become JPEG, far smaller and looking the same, and the deck still opens normally.
- Slides unchanged
Text, fonts, animations, transitions and speaker notes stay exactly as they were.
- Before and after
The result page shows the old and new file size and the percentage saved, and for a deck that's mostly video, how many MB that is.
