About Unlock Excel
Unlock Excel workbooks that no longer need a password: a daily report you open every morning, a file a colleague locked before changing roles, a template you want to share inside the team. Upload the XLSX or XLS, type the password you already know and download a copy without it. Password-protected Word files are handled by Unlock Word.
For XLSX files, sheet and workbook protection is removed as well, so locked cells can be edited and sheets can be renamed or moved again. We don't crack open passwords; without the right one, nothing changes. The password you type is deleted from our records when the task finishes, and the files after an hour.
How to use Unlock Excel
- 1Upload the workbook
Click Choose file or drop an XLSX or XLS file.
- 2Type the password
Enter it in The workbook's password exactly as it was set.
- 3Start the task
Press the button to remove the password from the Excel file. A wrong password is reported and isn't counted as a task.
- 4Download the copy
Save the new copy, which opens without asking for a password.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Open password removed
Excel, WPS and LibreOffice open the saved copy without a prompt.
- Sheet locks cleared
Protect Sheet and Protect Workbook settings are removed from XLSX files, so you can edit freely.
- XLSX and XLS
Current workbooks and old Excel 97–2003 files with an open password both work.
- Only with your password
Nothing is guessed or cracked, so the tool can only open files whose password you know.
