About Compress GIF
Use this GIF compressor when an animation is too big for a chat app, an email, a forum or a web page. The quickest way is Target size: tap 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB or 8 MB, or type your own limit. The colors go down first, then frames are dropped, then the width gets smaller, step by step until the GIF fits, and the result tells you the size it reached, or that it couldn't get there. A dropped frame's time is added to the one before it, so the animation lasts as long and moves at the same pace.
You can also set everything yourself. Max colors reduces the palette each frame uses: 128 is the default, 64 or 32 cut the size further, and simple graphics can go lower without looking worse. Width scales the whole animation down, with 0 keeping it as it is, and for long or high-frame-rate GIFs, Drop every Nth frame under More options removes every second, third, fourth or fifth frame. The result shows the old and new size and how much smaller the file got.
