Free Barcode Generator for EAN, UPC and Code 128

Type a number or code, pick the barcode type, and download it as PNG or SVG.

About Barcode Generator

This barcode generator draws the barcodes used on products, labels and inventory: EAN-13 and EAN-8 for retail goods, UPC-A for North American shelves, Code 128 for shipping labels and asset tags, and Code 39 for older scanners and ID badges. Enter the content and the barcode appears as you type.

For EAN and UPC, type the number without its last digit and the check digit is calculated for you. If you enter the full number, a wrong check digit is flagged. Adjust bar width and height, show or hide the text under the bars, and change the colors. Download a PNG, or an SVG for crisp printing. Retail EAN and UPC numbers must be registered with GS1, and this tool only draws them. Where a print shop asks for 300 DPI, Change Image DPI writes that value into the PNG.

FAQ

Barcode Generator: questions and answers

Can the barcode generator create EAN-13 codes for my products?
It can draw them, but the number itself must come from GS1, the organization that assigns retail barcodes. Once you have a number, type the first 12 digits and the check digit is added.
Which barcode type should I choose?
Use EAN-13, or UPC-A in the US and Canada, for products sold in shops, Code 128 for shipping, warehouse and asset labels, and Code 39 when an older system asks for it. For links, Wi-Fi or contact details, a QR code from the QR Code Generator is the better fit.
Why does it say the check digit is wrong?
The last digit of an EAN or UPC is calculated from the others. If your full number doesn't match, there's a typo, so enter it without the last digit and let the tool calculate it.
Is this barcode generator free?
Yes, and unlimited. It runs in your browser, needs no account and doesn't count toward the daily task limit.
Are the codes I enter sent anywhere?
No. The barcode is drawn in your browser, so product numbers and internal codes stay on your device.
