About Black and White Image
Make a black and white image the way each picture needs it. Document (clean scan, no shadows) turns a phone photo of a page into something that looks scanned: shadows and uneven light are taken out, the background goes white and the text black. Black & white (automatic) finds the right threshold by itself, so a signature or a gray-looking scan becomes crisp dark ink on white in one step. Grayscale keeps every shade, for portraits, old-style prints and documents for a mono printer, and its Contrast slider adds punch. When a form limits the file size of the signature, Compress Image to KB gets it under the limit.
For full control, Black & white (set the threshold) lets you decide where gray becomes black. The Black / white threshold starts at 128, the middle: raise it if faint pen strokes disappear, and lower it if the paper turns speckled. Dithered (for black-and-white printers) draws the shades with fine dots, so a photo still looks like a photo on a laser, receipt or label printer or an e-ink screen. Every black-and-white result is saved as a 1-bit PNG, with crisp edges, no gray JPEG fringes and a far smaller file. Transparent areas are filled with white, and a whole batch can be converted with the same settings.

Why use Cubfile for this
- Five ways to convert
Grayscale, automatic black and white, a clean document scan, your own threshold, or dithered dots.
- Phone photos as clean scans
Shadows and uneven light go, leaving black text on white paper.
- Dithering for printers
Fine dots instead of grays print well on laser, receipt and label printers and look right on e-ink.
- Crisp, small 1-bit PNG
Black-and-white results have no gray JPEG fringes and take a fraction of the space.
