About Word to Markdown
Word to Markdown saves you from retyping when documents written in Word have to move into GitHub, a static site, Obsidian or a wiki as .md files. Upload a DOCX, DOC, ODT or RTF and get GitHub-flavored Markdown with headings, nested lists and their numbers, pipe tables, bold, italic, strikethrough, links and footnotes. Add several documents at once and you get one ZIP with every .md file, each document's pictures in a folder of its own. When a Markdown file has to go back to Word, Markdown to Word turns it into a styled document.
Headings are read from Word's heading styles and outline levels, and titles someone formatted by hand, larger or bold and centered, are recognized too. Pictures are saved in an images folder next to the .md file, and scans pasted into Word as TIFF are saved as PNG, so browsers can show them. Turn on Add front matter and each file starts with the title, author and date from the document's properties, ready for Hugo, Jekyll, Hexo or Obsidian. The Markdown also appears on the page for copying. Merged table cells are left empty, and EMF or WMF drawings, Office's vector clip art, are left out because browsers can't show them. Free accounts convert up to 20 documents per task, and VIP up to 50.

Why use Cubfile for this
- Real document structure
Heading levels, nested lists, numbering, pipe tables and footnotes come through as proper Markdown, not flat text.

Title, author and date from the document's properties at the top, for Hugo, Jekyll, Hexo or Obsidian.
- Pictures included
Images are saved to an images folder and already linked from the Markdown, with pasted TIFF scans turned into PNG.
- Many documents, one ZIP
Convert several files in one task, each document's pictures in a folder of its own.
