About DOCX to DOC

DOCX to DOC is for the times the new format is the problem: a government or company system that accepts only .doc uploads, a colleague still on Word 2003, a legacy document management system, or an old computer without the compatibility pack. Upload the DOCX and download the same document saved in the Word 97–2003 format.

The DOC format predates some features Word added later, so newer elements may be simplified when the file is saved the old way, just as Word itself warns when you save as Word 97–2003. Keep the DOCX as your working copy and send the DOC only where it's required. If a .doc comes back edited, DOC to DOCX turns it into a modern file again.
