About XML to Excel
XML to Excel is for data that arrives as XML but needs to be checked, filtered or shared as a table: a supplier's product feed, e-invoices, bank statements, an export from an old system. Upload the .xml file and we find the element that repeats, like <product> or <record>, and turn each one into a row of an Excel sheet. To send edited rows back as XML, CSV to XML builds records from a CSV or XLSX file.
Child elements become columns, attributes become columns that start with @, and deeper nesting gets path names like price/currency. If a record repeats a child, the values share one cell, separated by semicolons. When the automatic guess picks the wrong level, type the tag you want in Row element (optional), or a path such as orders/order. External entities are switched off while parsing, a standard XML safety measure.
How to use XML to Excel
- 1Upload the XML file
Choose or drop an .xml export, feed or invoice file.
- 2Name the row element
Leave Row element (optional) empty to detect it, or enter a tag like item or a path like catalog/book.
- 3Click XML to Excel
Records are flattened into rows and columns on our server.
- 4Download the .xlsx
Open it to find a frozen header row and one row per record.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Finds the records itself
The most repeated element that has content of its own is used as the row, no XPath needed.
- Attributes included
id="42" on a record shows up in a column called @id.
- Nested data kept
Grandchild elements get columns named with their path, such as shipping/address/city.
- Safe parsing
External entities and network lookups are disabled, so a malicious file can't reach anything else.
