About Markdown to PDF
MD to PDF is for READMEs, meeting notes, documentation and homework written in Markdown that someone wants as a PDF. Paste the text into the page or upload .md, .markdown or .txt files, and a note full of footnotes, code and formulas comes back as a finished document. Footnotes are links you tap to jump to the note. Front matter, the title, author and date block at the top of Obsidian, Hugo and Jekyll notes, becomes a proper title block, and the title goes into the PDF's properties. Strikethrough, highlighted text, task lists with ☐ and ☑ boxes and bare web addresses come out as they should. Common formulas are shown with real symbols, such as α, ∑, x², √, ≤ and ℝ, on one line with fractions written a/b, so it's no replacement for a maths typesetter. Code blocks are coloured by language, from Python, JavaScript and TypeScript to Java, C, C++, C#, Go, Rust, PHP, SQL, shell, JSON, YAML, HTML, XML and CSS. For a document written in Word rather than Markdown, use Word to PDF.
Pictures come along too. Upload the notes folder as a ZIP and the pictures the notes link to are placed in the PDF, with the README first and the other notes after it in order; pictures from public web addresses are fetched as well, and one that can't be found is left out, with the result saying how many. Under Look, Clean (sans-serif) suits documentation and Book (serif, justified) reads like a printed page. Pick the Page size, A4, Letter or A5, and the Text size, and tick Contents page for a list of the headings with page numbers at the start. The headings also become PDF bookmarks, and Number the headings under More options puts 1, 1.1 and so on before them, as in a report or a thesis. Italics stay italic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean are set in a font that has every character, and pages are numbered at the bottom. Several notes become one PDF, each starting on a new page. A document for each note is a VIP choice.
