About PDF to EPUB
PDF to EPUB fixes the pinch-and-scroll problem: a PDF made for A4 paper is miserable to read on a phone or a 6-inch e-reader, while an EPUB reflows to fit any screen and lets you pick the font size. Upload a report, a paper, a manual or a self-published book and you get an e-book with a cover and a contents list you can tap. When the PDF has bookmarks, they become the chapters, on two levels; without them, its headings do. For a Kindle, Convert for Kindle can prepare the file for your model.
Paragraphs broken at a line or page end are joined again, hyphenated words included, bold and italics stay, and tables and pictures come along, while running headers, footers and page numbers are left out. The cover is the PDF's first page by default, and a first page holding only the title and author isn't repeated as text. Cover can also make a clean one from the title and author, use a picture of your own or leave it out, and Title and Author, left empty, are read from the PDF. Scanned pages are read with OCR in English and Chinese, or set Scanned pages to Keep as pictures to leave them as images, which also works for a PDF scanned from cover to cover: the book is then made of its page pictures, twenty pages to a chapter, and the result suggests turning OCR on for text you can resize. Pages converts just part of the file. Free accounts get OCR on a limited number of scanned pages per file, as in PDF to Word, and the pages past it come in as pictures of the page rather than gibberish, with the result saying how many more there were, while VIP reads every page. The book's language is read from its text, and Paragraphs sets it indented like a printed book or spaced apart.
