About AZW3 to EPUB

AZW3 to EPUB is for readers leaving the Kindle, or keeping a foot in both camps. AZW3 is Amazon's current Kindle format, and outside Kindle devices and apps hardly anything reads it. EPUB is the opposite: Kobo, PocketBook, Apple Books, Google Play Books and most Android readers support it. Upload the .azw3 and download an .epub. Older MOBI files go through MOBI to EPUB the same way.

Use it for DRM-free files, such as books you made yourself, AZW3 files from authors who sell without protection, or copies you converted earlier. Kindle Store purchases are usually copy-protected; those can't be converted here, and we don't remove DRM.

AZW3 to EPUB: questions and answers

What is an AZW3 file, and which devices can open it?
It's the Kindle Format 8 e-book format Amazon uses for current Kindles. It supports richer layout than MOBI but is read almost only by Kindle devices and apps. For printing or reading on a computer, AZW3 to PDF makes a PDF instead.
Can AZW3 to EPUB handle books bought on Amazon?
Only DRM-free ones. Books with Amazon's copy protection can't be converted, and we don't remove DRM.
How do I put the EPUB on a Kobo?
Connect the Kobo by USB, copy the .epub onto its drive and eject it. The book then appears in your library.
Is AZW3 to EPUB free, and how large can my file be?
Yes, within the free plan: 2 tasks for visitors, 2 a day on a free account, files up to 50 MB. VIP has no task limit and a 1 GB file cap.
What happens to my books after conversion?
They're deleted automatically one hour after processing. We don't look at them or keep copies.
