About Shift Subtitles
Shift Subtitles fixes the most common subtitle problem: the text is right but the timing isn't. Upload an SRT, VTT or ASS file, or every episode of a season whose timing is off by the same amount, and choose how to correct it; the same correction is applied to each file. Move everything shifts every line by a number of milliseconds, negative for earlier, and Only from (optional) starts the shift partway through, say after an inserted scene.
When the gap grows as the film goes on, the subtitles were made for a slightly different version. Match two lines fixes that: enter when an early and a late line appear now and when they should, and every time in between is stretched to fit. Change frame rate converts between 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 fps. Only the times change; styles, positions and text stay as they were. Files in encodings such as GBK are saved as UTF-8, and when only the encoding needs fixing, Fix Garbled Subtitles does that without touching the times.
How to use Shift Subtitles
- 1Upload the subtitle files
Choose or drop the out-of-sync .srt, .vtt or .ass file, or several that need the same fix. Up to 20 go in one task, 50 with VIP.
- 2Choose how to fix it
Pick Move everything, Match two lines or Change frame rate under How, then fill in the times or rates.
- 3Click Shift Subtitles
Only the timestamps are rewritten on our server; nothing else in the files is touched.
- 4Download and test
Take each file or the ZIP, play the video and check a line near the start and one near the end.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Three ways to resync
A fixed offset from the start or from a time you choose, a two-point stretch for drift, or a frame rate conversion.
- A whole season in one go
Episodes that are all off by the same amount get the same correction in one task, with a ZIP of the results.
- Nothing else changes
Styles, positions, comments and line breaks stay as they were, times keep their format, and UTF-8 and UTF-16 files keep their encoding.
- Flexible time input
Type 00:10:00, 10:00, 1:02:03,500 or plain seconds; all are understood.
