About ASS to SRT
ASS to SRT is what you need when a fansub or a styled subtitle file won't play right: a smart TV that ignores .ass files, a video editor that only imports SRT, a phone player that shows raw {\an8} codes on screen. Upload one .ass or .ssa file, or a whole season of them, and each comes back as a plain SRT with the same lines at the same times, numbered from 1, with all of them also in one ZIP. Subtitles still packed inside an MKV or MP4 can be saved out first with Extract Subtitles from Video.
With Remove styling tags on, which is the default, fonts, colours, positions, karaoke timing and vector drawings are dropped and only the dialogue is left. Turn it off to keep italics, bold, underline, colours and top-of-screen positions as SRT tags that many players understand. Lines repeated on several layers appear once, comment lines are skipped, and the encoding is detected, so GBK or Big5 files come out readable. Under More options, Bilingual subtitles: keep can reduce a Chinese and English fansub to one language, and Fix overlapping and too-short subtitles keeps every line up for at least 0.7 s and ends it before the next one begins.
How to use ASS to SRT
- 1Upload the ASS files
Choose or drop one or more .ass or .ssa subtitles. Up to 20 files go in one task, 50 with VIP.
- 2Decide on styling
Keep Remove styling tags on for plain dialogue, or turn it off to carry italics, colours and positions over.
- 3Click ASS to SRT
The events are read, cleaned and written as numbered SRT cues on our server, file by file.
- 4Download the SRT
Save each file next to its video with the same name so players load it automatically, or take the whole set as one ZIP.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Effects cleaned out
Karaoke tags, positioning codes and vector drawings no longer show up as garbage on screen, and lines repeated on several layers appear once.
- Optional basic styling
Italics, bold, colours and top positions can be kept as SRT tags, and start and end times carry over exactly.
- A whole season at once
Add every episode's subtitle to one task and get each as an SRT, plus all of them in one ZIP.
- One language, clean timing
Keep both languages of a bilingual fansub or just one, and fix lines that overlap or flash by too fast to read.
