About PDF to DWG
PDF to DWG helps when the only copy of a drawing is a PDF: an old project from the archive, a plan from a supplier, or a detail an architect sent without the source file. If the PDF was exported from CAD, its lines and text are stored as vectors, and we turn them back into DWG geometry you can edit in AutoCAD. When the lines are headed for a laser cutter or CNC machine, PDF to DXF gives you DXF paths instead.
Scans and photos of paper drawings won't work, because they are pictures with no lines inside. A quick test: zoom in, and if lines stay sharp and you can select the text, the PDF is vector. Use Pages to convert only the sheets you need, and leave Keep text as text on so notes and dimension values stay editable text. PDFs carry no drawing units, so check one known dimension and scale if needed.
How to use PDF to DWG
- 1Upload the PDF drawing
Click Choose file or drop the PDF here. On a free account it can be up to 50 MB.
- 2Choose the pages
Type pages such as 1-3, 5 in Pages, or leave it empty to convert every page.
- 3Keep text editable
Leave Keep text as text switched on, then click PDF to DWG.
- 4Open the DWG
Download the file, open it in AutoCAD or another DWG program and check the scale against a known dimension.
Why use Cubfile for this
- Lines, not a picture
Vector paths from the PDF become DWG geometry you can move, trim and dimension.
- Editable text
With Keep text as text on, notes, labels and dimension values come through as text you can change.
- Page selection
Convert one sheet from a large set, a range like 2-6, or the whole PDF.
- Handled privately
Encrypted upload, isolated processing and automatic deletion one hour later.
