About WHOIS Lookup
A WHOIS lookup answers the everyday questions about a domain: when your own domain expires, which registrar holds a name you'd like to buy, how old a competitor's site is, or whether a domain is locked before a transfer. Enter a domain or paste a full web address. Subdomains are reduced to the part you register, so blog.example.co.uk is looked up as example.co.uk.
We ask the registry over RDAP, the modern JSON version of WHOIS, using IANA's list of servers, and fall back to classic port-43 WHOIS for extensions without RDAP, such as .cn, .io and .de. You get the registrar, registration date and age, expiry date and days left, last update, each status code in plain words, name servers that open a DNS Lookup when clicked, DNSSEC, the abuse contact and the raw record. Domains that expire within 30 days, are on hold or are being deleted are flagged. Details hidden for privacy stay hidden, and a name nobody holds links to the Domain Availability Checker.
How to use WHOIS Lookup
- 1Enter the domain
Type a domain such as example.com, or paste a web address and the WHOIS lookup keeps just the domain.
- 2Click Look up
We ask the registry's RDAP server, or its WHOIS server when the extension has no RDAP.
- 3Read the details
Check the expiry date, days left, status codes and name servers, and open the raw record if you need every line.
- 4Save or follow up
Download the result as JSON, or click a name server to look up its DNS records.
