DNS Checker – Look Up DNS Records Online

Look up any DNS record of a domain through the public resolver you choose.

About DNS Lookup

Use this DNS checker to confirm what the internet sees after you move hosting, add a TXT record for domain verification, set up MX records for a new mail service, or find out why a subdomain won't load. Choose A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, CAA, SRV, PTR, DS, DNSKEY or HTTPS, or All common types to see them together. Names with an underscore, such as the _dmarc name of a domain, work too, and an IP address returns its PTR record.

Pick the resolver: Cloudflare, Google, AliDNS, DNSPod, OpenDNS, NextDNS, AdGuard, DNS.SB, IIJ or 360, each asked over DNS over HTTPS. The table lists every record with its TTL, and a line above it says which resolver answered, how many milliseconds it took and whether the answer was DNSSEC-validated. A name that doesn't exist shows as NXDOMAIN. Click an IP to open its IP WHOIS record, or a host name to look that up next. To see whether a change has reached other resolvers, use the DNS Propagation Checker.

FAQ

DNS Lookup: questions and answers

How do I check a domain's DNS records?
Enter the domain, choose a record type or All common types, and click Look up. Each record is listed with its TTL and the resolver that answered.
Why do different resolvers give different answers?
Each resolver caches an answer until its TTL runs out, so after a change some still return the old value. Sites behind a CDN or geo-DNS also hand out different IPs depending on where the resolver sits.
How do I check a TXT record for domain verification?
Choose TXT and enter the exact name the service asked for, either the domain itself or a name like _dmarc.example.com. If the record doesn't show, it isn't published yet or the name has a typo.
Can I look up the PTR record of an IP address?
Yes. Enter the IP and the tool asks for its PTR record automatically. For many addresses at once, use Reverse DNS Lookup.
Is this online DNS checker free to use?
Yes. It needs no account and doesn't use your daily tasks. Each visitor has an hourly allowance to prevent abuse, higher for members and VIP.
