About Remove Background

Remove Background is the quick way to cut a subject out of a photo. The AI finds the person, product or pet and separates it from everything behind it, fine hair and fur included, without you tracing a single edge. It's the first step for product listings, profile pictures, stickers, slides and posters. To put the subject in front of a new scene or your own photo, continue with the AI Background Changer.

Choose what goes behind the subject. Transparent gives a clean cut-out you can place anywhere, Solid color puts it on white for a shop listing or on any color you pick, and Blurred keeps the original scene but softens it for a portrait look. VIP members can send up to 50 photos through in one task. Glass, smoke and subjects that blend into their surroundings are the hardest cases, so a clear contrast between subject and background helps.

Remove Background: questions and answers

Does Remove Background handle hair and fur?
Yes, fine hair, fur and soft edges are kept rather than cut off. Strands against a background of a very similar color are the hardest case, so photos with clear contrast give the cleanest result.
Can I remove background and use a white one instead?
Yes. Choose Solid color and keep the Background color at white, or pick any other color, such as your brand color. For shop listings, AI Product Photo also adds a soft shadow under the product.
Is Remove Background free?
A free account includes 1 AI task a day, for photos up to 50 MB. VIP plans add a monthly allowance of AI credits, files up to 1 GB and up to 50 photos per task.
What kinds of pictures work best?
Photos where the subject stands out, such as a person, a product or a pet with a visible outline. Glass, smoke and objects that blend into the background are harder to separate cleanly.
Are my photos used to train the AI?
No. Photos are uploaded over HTTPS, processed by the model in an isolated process and deleted automatically after one hour. We never use them for training, and nobody looks at them.
