About Text Translator

Translate text the quick way: type or paste a sentence, an email, a chat message or a product description, and the translation appears while you write. The language you type in is detected, and the language buttons above the text put the most common choices one click away, including English, Chinese and Filipino.

Press the microphone to dictate instead of typing, and the speaker to hear the translation read aloud; both use the speech features of your browser, and voice input works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. Swap the languages to write a reply. For a whole file, the Document Translator translates PDF, Word, Excel and more and keeps the layout.

Is the Text Translator free?
Yes. Visitors can translate 30,000 characters a day, free accounts 100,000 and VIP 500,000, up to 5,000 characters at a time (20,000 for VIP). Sentences you already translated within the hour don't count again.
Which languages are supported?
70 languages, including English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay and Hindi.
Why doesn't the microphone work?
Voice input uses your browser's speech recognition. It works in Chrome, Edge and Safari; allow the microphone for this site when your browser asks. Firefox doesn't offer it yet.
Can I translate a whole document?
Yes, with the Document Translator. It translates PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, subtitles and e-books and gives you back the same file type with its layout.
Do you keep the text I translate?
No. Your text travels over HTTPS to our server and the translation engine only to be translated. Translations are cached for up to an hour to answer repeats quickly and are then deleted, and nothing is used to train AI.
Share Text Translator with a friendIt runs in any browser, and they can try it without signing up.
