About PPTX to PPT

PPTX to PPT is for the times you have to go backwards, like a classroom PC still running PowerPoint 2003, an old kiosk or display system, or a submission portal that only accepts .ppt. Upload the .pptx and download the same presentation saved in the PowerPoint 97–2003 format.

Older versions can't show everything newer ones can, so features added after 2003, such as some effects, SmartArt and newer chart types, may be simplified or turned into pictures. Keep your PPTX as the master copy and send the PPT only where it's required.

When do I need PPTX to PPT?
When the computer that will show the slides only has PowerPoint 2003 or older, or when a system accepts .ppt files only.
Will anything change after PPTX to PPT?
It can. Effects, SmartArt and chart types that arrived after 2003 may be simplified or turned into pictures in the old format. If the slides only need to be shown, PowerPoint to PDF gives a file that looks the same on every device.
Can new PowerPoint versions still open the PPT?
Yes. Current PowerPoint opens .ppt files in Compatibility Mode. To bring a PPT file up to date again, PPT to PPTX converts it to the current format.
