They open in Compatibility Mode, some newer features are switched off, and online tools, upload forms and apps increasingly expect .pptx. What's the difference between PPT and PPTX?
PPT is the binary format PowerPoint used up to 2003. PPTX arrived with PowerPoint 2007, is the current standard and is the only format where newer features work. For a computer still on PowerPoint 2003, PPTX to PPT saves a copy in the old format.
Will PPT to PPTX change my slides?
The slides, text and pictures are carried over into the new format. Page through the result once, since very old WordArt and embedded objects can look slightly different.
How do I convert PPT to PPTX without PowerPoint?
