Online Hash Generator – MD5, SHA-256, SM3 and CRC32

Type or paste text and get its MD5, SHA, SM3 and CRC32 values at the same time.

About Hash Generator

A hash generator gives a short fingerprint of a piece of text. Use it to check an API signature, match a value stored in a database, build a cache key, or confirm that two long strings are identical without comparing them by eye. Paste the text and MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SM3 and CRC32 all appear together, in lowercase or uppercase hex.

Text is hashed as UTF-8, so Chinese and emoji give the same result as your code gets from the same UTF-8 string. Paste an expected hash to compare and you see at once whether it matches. SM3 is China's national standard hash, required by some government and financial systems. To hash a download or any other file, use File Hash. Nothing you type is uploaded.

How to use Hash Generator

  1. 1
    Paste the text

Type or paste it. It's hashed as UTF-8.

  2. 2
    Read the hashes

    MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SM3 and CRC32 are shown together.

  3. 3
    Choose the case

Switch between lowercase and uppercase hex to match your system.

  4. 4
    Compare if needed

Paste an expected hash to check whether it matches.

Why use Cubfile for this

  • Seven algorithms at once

    MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SM3 and CRC32.

  • SM3 included

China's national standard hash, next to the familiar ones.

  • Hash compare

Paste the value you expect and see straight away whether it matches.

  • UTF-8 input

Chinese and emoji hash the same way as in most programming languages.

FAQ

Hash Generator: questions and answers

Can an MD5 hash be decrypted?
No. A hash is one-way, so the text can't be calculated back from it. Sites that claim to decrypt MD5 only look up hashes of common words and passwords they have stored.
Why doesn't my MD5 match the one from my code?
Usually the input differs, for example a trailing space or line break, or an encoding other than UTF-8. Letter case in the hex can differ too, so check the case setting. The Text to Hex Converter shows exactly which bytes the input contains, including a stray space or line break.
Should I use MD5 or SHA-256?
Use SHA-256 or stronger for anything to do with security. MD5 and SHA-1 have known collisions and are fine only for checksums and older systems. To sign a message with a secret key, use the HMAC Generator rather than a plain hash.
How do I get the hash of a file?
Use File Hash, which reads the file on your device, gives MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SM3, and compares the result with the value you expect.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Hashing happens in your browser, so passwords and keys stay on your device, and there's no daily limit.
Share Hash Generator with a friendIt runs in any browser, and they can try it without signing up.
