About Website Speed Test
Use this website speed test when a page feels slow, after moving to a new host or CDN, or before and after an optimization. From our server we time DNS, connection, TLS, time to first byte, download and redirects, then load up to 80 resources found in the HTML, including scripts, styles, images and the favicon, and record each one's size, status, compression and cache headers.
You get a score, a timeline of where the time goes, page weight, request count and HTML size, plus checks for a slow first byte, redirects, missing compression, render-blocking files, short cache lifetimes, uncompressed CSS or JavaScript, images over 300 KB, broken resources and very large pages. Test as a desktop or phone browser. It's one location, not a multi-city test, and JavaScript isn't run. Where available, Also measure Core Web Vitals adds Google PageSpeed Insights lab scores and real-user data. Shrink heavy images with Compress Image.
How to use Website Speed Test
- 1Enter the page address
Test the home page first, then any page that feels slow.
- 2Pick desktop or phone
The phone option uses a mobile browser's user agent, so sites with a separate mobile page serve that one.
- 3Click Test speed
Timing, loading the resources and running the checks can take up to half a minute.
- 4Fix the biggest items
Start with failed checks, then the Resources table, which lists the heaviest files first.
