About UUID Generator

This UUID generator makes unique IDs for database rows, test data, API requests and file names. Version 4 is fully random. Version 7 starts with the current time in milliseconds, so IDs created later sort after earlier ones, which keeps database indexes tidy and makes logs easier to follow. Test records that also need filler text can get it from the Lorem Ipsum Generator.

Create 1 to 1,000 UUIDs at once. Upper case, With hyphens and In {} change the format for systems that expect a particular style, such as GUIDs in braces on Windows. Random bits come from your browser's cryptographic generator, and nothing is sent to a server. Copy all puts the list on your clipboard, or save it as uuids.txt.

FAQ

UUID Generator: questions and answers

Should I use UUID v4 or v7?
Use v7 for database primary keys, because new IDs sort after old ones and inserts stay efficient. Use v4 when the ID shouldn't reveal when it was created.
Can two IDs from the UUID generator collide?
In practice, no. A v4 UUID has 122 random bits, so the chance of a repeat is far too small to matter, even across billions of IDs.
Is a GUID the same as a UUID?
Yes, GUID is Microsoft's name for the same 128-bit format. Tick In {} and Upper case to match how Windows usually shows them.
How many UUIDs can the UUID generator make at once?
Up to 1,000 per click. Click Generate again for another batch, with no daily limit.
Are the UUIDs generated on a server?
