About Password Generator

This password generator makes passwords with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so nothing is predictable and nothing is sent to us. Set the length anywhere from 4 to 128 characters, choose capitals, lowercase, digits and symbols, and get up to 100 passwords at once, each with its own copy button. For unique identifiers rather than secrets, the UUID Generator makes v4 and v7 IDs in bulk.

Every password contains at least one character from each set you tick, which satisfies most sign-up rules. Avoid look-alikes, on by default, leaves out characters such as l, 1, O and 0 that are easy to misread when you type a password from paper. The strength label shows the entropy in bits, and 100 or more counts as very strong. Store the result in a password manager.

Is this password generator safe to use?
Yes. Passwords are made in your browser with a cryptographic random generator and are never sent to us, stored or logged.
How long should a password be?
At least 16 characters for accounts that matter. With all four character types, 16 characters already rates as very strong.
Can the password generator make passwords without symbols?
Yes. Untick the symbols box if a site rejects them, and make the password a little longer to keep it strong. A password with symbols that goes into a URL or connection string needs URL encoding first.
What does Avoid look-alikes do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse, like capital I, lowercase l, the digit 1, O and 0, plus quotes and the vertical bar. It helps when a password is read aloud or typed from a printout.
Is this password generator free to use?
Yes, with no limits. It runs in your browser and doesn't count toward any daily tasks.
