HTTP Request Tester

Send a request to a public URL or API and read the status, timing, headers and body that come back.

About HTTP Request Tester

This HTTP request tester lets you try an API without installing a client or writing code. Check that a webhook endpoint answers, see what a public API returns for a query, send OPTIONS to read the Allow and CORS headers an endpoint returns, or confirm where a redirect ends up. Pick the method, enter the URL, add headers one per line and a body of up to 500 KB, then click Send.

You get the status code, time, size, each redirect hop while Follow redirects is on, the response headers and the body, with JSON pretty-printed and up to 1 MB shown. The request goes out from our server at the moment you click, only to public internet addresses, and nothing is stored. We set a few connection headers, such as Host and Content-Length, ourselves. It doesn't use your daily tasks, but each visitor has an hourly allowance, higher for members. Don't paste passwords or tokens for accounts that matter. To turn a curl command into code instead, see cURL to Code. A JSON response can then be pasted into JSON to Code for matching model classes.

FAQ

HTTP Request Tester: questions and answers

Can the HTTP request tester reach localhost or my intranet?
No. Requests go out from our server and only to public internet addresses, so localhost, 127.0.0.1, 10.x and 192.168.x can't be reached. Use curl on your own machine for those.
Why wasn't my request body sent with GET?
GET and HEAD requests are sent without a body. Choose POST, PUT, PATCH or DELETE if the API expects data.
Which headers can't I set?
Host, Content-Length, Connection, Transfer-Encoding and a few other connection headers are set by our server. Other headers are sent as you write them, and if you leave out Accept, a browser-like default is sent.
Is my request stored?
No. It's sent when you click Send, the result is shown only to you, and nothing is kept on our server. Even so, avoid pasting passwords or tokens for accounts you care about.
Is there a usage limit?
It's free, needs no sign-up and doesn't use your daily tasks. To prevent abuse, each visitor has an hourly allowance of requests, which is higher when you're signed in and much higher with VIP.
